ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE – A POWER TOOL

 
The attitude of gratitude is a powerful way to connect with the God/Goddess within. As human beings we are born powerful, we are divine beings experiencing a physical experience. The greatest illusion on the planet is forgetting our Divinity.
 
There are many tools and techniques that help us align with our Divinity within. And one of the most powerful tools is the attitude of gratitude.
 
Many studies in neuroscience have found that people who consciously focus on gratitude experience greater emotional and physical well being. Please google and get to know about all the Neuroscientific research on gratitude.
 
I have been listening to Dr. Joe Dispenza, a researcher, lecturer and author on neuroscience and neuroplasticity, he says that when a person can give gratitude for 10 minutes everyday their brain releases happy healing chemicals, especially immunoglobulin A, a powerful antibody that enhances the immune system of the body.
 
Research studies have shown that when we express and receive gratitude, our brain releases dopamine and serotonin, the two crucial neurotransmitters that enhance our mood, uplift our emotions and make us feel happy and good. The study also found that even levels of pain were reduced because of the release of dopamine.
 
By consciously practicing gratitude with feeling everyday, we help to strengthen our neural pathways to create a positive nature of self-love, empathy within ourselves and significantly impact the physical and psychological conditions of our body.
 
A mental health research study showed that people who were asked to write gratitude letters everyday recovered sooner and felt better than people who were asked to write about their negative experiences everyday.
 
Studies also show that gratitude and kindness triggers the hypothalamus of the brain, to help us sleep better and wake up feeling refreshed. By reducing the stress hormones, gratitude significantly reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety.
 
By Practicing gratitude and appreciating little things in life, we can rewire the brain to deal with present circumstances with more awareness and a broader perception.
 
Scientists suggest that by activating the reward center of our brain, gratitude exchange alters the way we see the world and ourselves.
 
At the neurochemical level, gratitude acts as a catalyst for neurotransmitters that manage our emotions, anxiety and immediate stress response.
 
In his book ‘Upward Spiral’ , Dr. Alex Korb mentions that gratitude forces us to focus on the positive sides of life.
 
The power of gratitude is transformative, it connects us with the wisdom of our inner being and not our ego. When we are appreciating something, our ego has to move out of the way and we easily connect with our inner being. This brings our attention to the present moment where miracles unfold.
 
Here are some of the practical ways to practice gratitude:
 
1. Gratitude Journal:
Start a gratitude journal.
Make a note book personally for you to write gratitude and appreciation.
Record at least 3 things you are grateful for before the end of the day.
Record it neatly in your handwriting.
It can be anything, from the air you breathe to the solution you found for your problem. Write gratitude for any 3 things, slowly, feeling every word you write. Then the next day read what you wrote slowly, feeling every word as true for you.
Keep writing about more things you are grateful for, keep increasing the numbers everyday. Write slowly with feeling.
Feeling is the key.
This is an amazingly powerful exercise to connect with the God/Goddess that is within you.
 
2. A Gratitude Stone:
Find a pretty piece of rock or a stone or crystal you like and keep it in your pocket or purse , or place it in a place where you can notice it everyday.
Write the words ‘thank you’ brightly on the piece of rock with your sketch pen.
Every time you see the stone or put your hand in your pocket and touch the stone, give a prayer of gratitude from your heart.
 
 
I invite you to take up any one of these practices for 100 days continuously.
Mark your calendar and sincerely do it. Love yourself enough to do this for yourself.
Notice the positive, beautiful changes that happen in your life.
