MOVE OUT OF BEING REACTIONARY, BECOME AWARE

 
I am reminded of the Russian psychologist, Ivan Pavlov, who in the 1890s discovered ‘conditioning.’ He was experimenting with salivation in dogs in response to being fed. He thought the dogs would start salivating when food was placed in front of them, but he found they started salivation even when they heard the footsteps of the person bringing food. So this made him understand that the reflex action of salivation to food was already ‘hard-wired’ in the dog’s brain.
 
Then he experimented by ringing a bell before giving food, and repeated this procedure many times, surprisingly he found that even without food just ringing the bell the dog would salivate. The association between the sound of the bell and the food was a new behavior the dog learned. He called it the conditioning response.
 
The neural stimulus of the dog had become a conditioned stimulus. For conditioning to happen, Pavlov found that the two stimulus (food and bell) had to be very close and also done repeatedly.
 
Conditioning can happen with all beings, new behaviors create new brain circuitry and repetition forms habit with the body and the brain circuitry gets hard-wired.
 
In this modern age of busyness, competition, comparison, attachment to gadgets and seeking instant gratification, taking no silent time for oneself to process thoughts, we choose to keep our body and mind in stress, which is a fight or flight situation.
 
Repetition creates habit, a habit is when the body becomes the mind and can do everything without the help of the mind.
 
Repetition of constant ‘fear’ chatter of the mind creates neural circuits that get hard-wired. A hard-wired circuit creates a reactionary attitude to life.
 
Repeated fear thoughts, beliefs, opinions, concepts from the outer environment get hard-wired within if you do not take time to sit in silence, take time to understand and know that you are powerful and you have choice. When you do not use your freewill to choose, you allow others to choose for you. You start creating a personality that fits in with other people’s opinions.
 
This creates extreme stress because you are made unique with unique talents, and since you choose to confirm to others’ opinions, you are distracted from living your life the way you want, and your talents remain dormant and you feel like a failure and so you constantly have to strive to earn ‘good name’ from others, which never happens.
 
A few years ago, my health was failing and I was in a very bad shape. My sugar level was so high, I was suffering with inflammation and obesity. I was on insulin, I read and listened to all the ‘fear-filled’ opinions of many well wishers & physicians. Then I sat with myself in silence, asked the loving Divinity in me to heal me. I received wonderful guidance from new research, the guidance lead me to practice intermittent fasting and a low-carb diet. It was because, diabetes, obesity, inflammation, everything was a dietary disease and no medicine can treat them. They have to be healed only with diet. I have never done fasting in my life and it was a very tough scary choice to make.
 
My trust in divine guidance was more than my fear of fasting. My choice to get out of my comfort zone and go into the unknown was an act of becoming greater than my body’s habit or my mind’s fears.
 
As humans we are born powerful, we can make choices and respond to our environment with trust rather than react with fear.
 
Fasting was a very challenging task, because I noticed that the body was habituated with the familiar act of eating, snacking, eating for entertainment, eating for comfort, food had literally become a therapist during the time of stress.
 
Going within, noticing and training the body took less than a week. When positive results happened, it became easier. Now instead of craving when cooking/seeing/thinking about food, food has just become an aspect of ‘nutrition’ for the body’s fuel, and there is no more craving or addiction. Healing happened magically and I let go all medications.
 
It is possible to see the problem from a higher perspective and make wise choices for your path. The path is never a familiar one, it is always an unknown. Explore and know that there is immense courage within you. Take time to sit with the body and mind and notice. The act of noticing makes you become greater than your problem. It helps you to connect with your Divinity within and bring wisdom and strength to solve the problem. It is a perfect system and it never fails.
 
The moment we take charge, we stop being reactionary from habit, and start responding to life. We become, response-able (responsible) for our thoughts, actions and feelings.
 
Since personality is the way we think, act, and feel, when we change our thoughts, actions, and feelings, our personality changes and it changes our personal reality also.
 
Let us choose to trust the unknown.
Let us make a choice to get out of habit and reactionary response. We are powerful beings of immense courage and strength.
Let us go within gather inner strength, and create grandness for ourselves and our Planet.
